As it was in days of yore, as our ancestors would say! 

We all preserve childhood memories, the aroma of our grandparents' house, the taste of a birthday cake, the sound of laughter at family parties. There are many differences between our experiences and those of the Lisbonites of the 12th century. Yet many traditions, stories, flavours and other things have come down to us from medieval Lisbon.

"Celebrations" is the title of this first edition of the series "In those times, in the Lisbon of Saint Anthony" which makes daily life the starting point for sharing moments and revisiting fond memories. 

An opportunity to learn that the streets of Lisbon were not always filled with decorated arches, balloons, basil plants and thrones. In other times, crowds were moved by other festivities and devotions.

In this workshop-visit, you will discover the origins of Lisbon's festivities and their main characteristics!
