Paulo Jorge Ferreira

In March, the guest artist is Paulo Jorge Ferreira, an accordion/performance specialist who is recognised for his leading role in promoting the accordion as an artistic musical instrument in Portugal.

He is a composer and professor of accordion and chamber music at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Castelo Branco and at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional.

Paulo Jorge Ferreira has given solo recitals and chamber music concerts in Portugal and abroad, playing with prestigious musicians.

He has taken part in numerous recordings and radio and television programmes. He has recorded two solo CDs – Percursos, published by Numérica, and Contemporary Works for Accordion, included in the CalandaMusic catalogue – and the chamber music album Escape (as part of the Stretto Duo, with cellist Catherine Strynckx), published by Artway Records.
