Loios Convent. Reminiscences of the convent building

Archaeological work carried out between 2016 and 2019 allowed us to identify preserved remains of the former Loios Convent, namely the former dormitory (building 4) and the primitive conventual church. These remains were subject to various remodellings and exhumations prior to the construction of a new octagonal church, of which traces also remain on the site (building 2).
All these traces were profoundly damaged by the occupation by the various military forces installed here for more than 150 years.
