For one day, the gardens of Pimenta Palace will be turned into a giant field exercise. For the third consecutive year, we will measure their biodiversity in the simplest way: counting and identifying the animal and plant species with scientists. In addition to a useful scientific purpose, BioBlitz is also a fun learning experience for participants who have the chance to meet and work with real scientists and specialists in national biodiversity and to learn and identify several species. During the activity, participants will photograph their “discoveries” with their smartphones and then, with the scientists and using the BioDiversity4All app, the species in their images will be identified. Participants will thus be empowered and inspired to continue to record the country’s biodiversity even after the activity has finished.

The initiative will be attended by researchers from cE3c, Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, Tagis and Sociedade Portuguesa de Botânica.

Organised in partnership with BioDiversity4All.
