On the furniture of Manuel Teixeira Gomes

Teixeira Gomes collected different pieces of art to his taste, including furniture of different origins and periods.

In the pursuit of fashion, he used this furniture and other artistic objects to create his idea of an "art of the interior."

From the furniture donated to the Museum of Lisbon, to which we have added other pieces of furniture and documents, we have tried to reveal his decorative taste as an aesthete.

Pedro Bebiano Braga has a master's degree in Contemporary Art History from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is a researcher at the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum-EGEAC. His studies, publications and curating of exhibitions focus on 19th century decorative arts.
