Futures of Lisbon
12 Jul 2018 — 18 Nov 201810h – 18h
At a time of radical change, the Museum of Lisbon held an exhibition that raised questions and proposed possibilities at the intersection between three elements: Lisbon, the city and the future.
The perspectives of the curators of Futuros de Lisboa [Futures of Lisbon], João Seixas, Manuel Graça Dias and Sofia Guedes Vaz, were supplemented by reflections from a variety of guest essayists and by ideas from the general public.
At 10 venues, the exhibition explored elements relating to the concepts of Lisbon, the city and the future, values underpinning these concepts, ideas for change and prospects for implementing them, drawing on the challenges that have been and continue to be raised by these trends, values and ideas with regard to transforming cities and urban life, and, in this case, transforming Lisbon.
Through images, videos, photographs, documents, technological objects and artworks, the exhibition took us on a journey from the Future Over Time, passing through the Future of the Past, the Difficulties in Predicting the Future, the Future That’s Already Here, and culminating in the Inevitable Future at the Sala dos Pilares in Lisbon.
