This concert focuses on a previously unperformed piece by João Lucena e Vale, composed specifically for the CJUL and from which its name is taken: Quimera [Chimaera]. The piece reflects the moment that humankind presently finds itself in, without, however, ever making explicit reference to it. The specific time and space when the action takes place is unclear. The concert programme is complemented by a constellation of choral pieces, veritable gems from the 16th to the 20th centuries. These include pieces by Orlando di Lassus and Jukka Linkola and are arranged in two blocks, representing the starting and end points, around the central work. In this way, Quimera, a song of hope, brings together and impregnates these diverse yet similar stars under the same sky. They represent us all, united by the unique voices and the musicality of this group.
