King Dom Manuel I promoted the radical alteration of the urban design and architecture of Lisbon by providing it with new buildings and equipment, aimed at the effective management of a growing colonial empire, of which it wanted Lisbon to be its centre. In this guided visit, we shall look at the principal remains and major urban transformations of Lisbon during his reign.
