The Flour Mill of the old Military Maintenance Building (1897) was the first to operate within the vast food industry complex, manufacturing pasta, biscuits and bread.
For more than a hundred years, the mill fulfilled its function of producing flour to supply all the factories, bakeries, messes and even supermarkets of the now-extinct Military Maintenance building (2015-2017).
The search for another function that preserves the cultural values of a site that is unique both in Portugal and abroad is a challenge that must be taken up as an opportunity for the city and the country to create narratives about industrial and contemporary Lisbon and develop a new point of cultural attraction in eastern Lisbon as part of the Beato Creative Hub.
