Enjoying the nature, light and perspectives of the city from the river, we will reconstitute the events of 1719 when King João V, the most distinguished members of his court and occasionally Queen Maria Anna of Austria sailed along the Tagus to identify, together with Filippo Juvarra and Portuguese engineers and architects, the most appropriate and scenographic sites for the new buildings to be constructed: the royal and patriarchal complex to be built at either Ribeira or Buenos Aires (now Lapa); the royal estate in Belém, the theatre, the arsenal, the monumental lighthouse.

Today, as then, we will look at the city while contemplating the same scenographic potential, identifying the sites and seeing the grandiose projects designed by Filippo Juvarra "emerge" to reveal the deep relationship with the natural topography, with successive periods of urban development, and with the beauty of Lisbon that inspired Filippo Juvarra and which continues to enchant us to this day.
