A remarkable figure of the 1920s, the enigmatic writer Veva de Lima is the inspiration behind the historical novel Veva, presented here by Mário Nascimento and the author, Joana Leitão de Barros, and recently published by Oficina do Livro.

A woman ahead of her time who embarrasses Salazar and the elites; an independent and cosmopolitan woman who travels alone around the world opposing Nazism and Italian fascism; a woman who proclaimed her anglophilia on the microphones of the BBC.

Joana Leitão de Barros is a former journalist and corporate communications consultant. In 2019 she published Leitão de Barros, a Biografia Roubada, published by Bizâncio and winner of the Portuguese Film Academy Art & Technique Award in 2020.
