Engravings

Along with photography, the engravings’ collection is quite substantial and relevant for documenting the city between the 16th century and the present day. The items related to the city before and after the earthquake of 1755 are extremely relevant, namely depicting the effects of that disaster, as well as views of Lisbon and its emblematic monuments in the 19th century. The Museum of Lisbon also has a maps collection that allows visitors to track the city’s urban development over the last century and a half.
